She fired someone she was legally entitled to fire. It may have been poor judgment, but what is Steve Branchflower going to do? She can't be indicted for it; she had the right to fire him for any reason she liked.

On top of that, Steve has always been a straight-shooter. Even if he finds something, I don't see him intentionally timing it for political gain.

Sarah's a risky move for McCain, but so what? He was starting to be seen as the stodgy, status quo candidate in a year when the public wants radical change. Now he has a little of that maverick image back. And if they lose, Sarah might be in the race in 4 years, at the top of the ticket.
