I'm sure Krugman never complains about government trying to be the solution for poverty and recession, only to make both "self-fulfilling prophecies" in the process. Frankly poverty and recession exist with or without an efficient government. Both can be mitigated with an efficient government. The goal should be to make government work as efficiently as possible... that's in all our best interests.
