First, let me say Tejek you have my utmost admiration and respect being a public school teacher. I can't think of a job that is harder to do well given the burdens placed on teachers and the obstacles they have to navigate in school Administration.

Now turning to your points: Running a campaign and running the country are Apples and Oranges, IMHO. For one thing, once you've turned down matching campaign funds budgeting (in terms of having enough money) is out the window. Where & how to spend it is the question.

That aside, I agree with what you have said about Republican spending. They have gotten away with it (overspending), I think, because spending on defense is not seen as wasteful whereas the perception of social welfare programs is that it is wasteful (if it's to help the under class--middle class programs are an entirely different matter). (I think Obama has the potential to change the perception of this as he and Michelle are prime examples of the dividends of investing in people).

If Obama wins what, if any, changes do you foresee for education in terms of programs/mandates coming out of Washington?
