Boston Option Exchange Changes Ownership

The Montral Exchange completed the acquisition of a 21.9% ownership position of the Boston Options Exchange Group, LLC (BOX) today from the Boston Stock Exchange bringing MX ownership position in BOX to 53.2%. No changes to the BOX market model, management or operating platform are planned as a result of the transaction.

In a related transaction, NASDAQ completed its previously announced acquisition of the BSE. Regulatory services to BOX will continue to be provided through BOXR, a wholly owned subsidiary of the BSE.

The Boston Options Exchange Group, LLC (BOX) was established in February 2002. BOX is an all-electronic equity derivatives market and was created as an alternative to the existing market models. BOX launched trading in February 2004.
