Just discovered this thread. I believe the latest version of WinZip has the option of spanning multiple disks. If it doesn't then you can use good ol pkzip.

Alternatively, you could UUEncode/UUDecode it. Those are standard unix utils but there do exist versions for Windows. It would break the file up into smaller chunks (I believe you can set the chunk size) and is a way to send binary files via email.

Another approach is to have both machines on the same network. Then
you can just drag/drop the file you want copied. At home I have 2 PC's with ethernet cards hooked up. Once I get a third PC, I'm going to have to get a hub. But you can get a 4 port hub nowadays for ~$50.00
