Huh? Murkowski was the most unpopular governor in the USA. The handwriting was on the wall.

She got 51% in a 3-way race with one young woman against two older guys. With Murkowski out, the race would been much tighter.

Another 3-way race. She took 48%.

Old news. More like 65% recently (pre-nomination). Still good, but the ethics scandal has tarnished her image.

The bottom line: Frank Murkowski made Sarah Palin governor of Alaska. The dynamics at the national level are quite different.
