A lot of truth in the comment, which I did not read until you mentioned it.

On the other hand, it seems that the author of the comment missed the heavy sarcastic hand Lewis used on his own kind.

Isaacson, Nicky Lehman, etc., rarely write about NO so the author's anger towards them seems misplaced. These are guys from privileged backgrounds who have received tremendous educations but are by no means dilettantes. They are authors of very substantial works and have made their own way in the world. Isaacson comes from a very respectable upper middle class background [I think his dad was a succesful engineer], Lemann is indeed upper crust.

I think the author of the comment had to let some steam out because he seems to have sustained some damages in the storm. And he is undoubtedly stressed out, like most of us, present company excluded. My luck once again prevailed as I am at home, with full power, enjoying a sip of Scotland's best, waiting for my tribe to get back.

Does the fact that I am fortunate make me somehow evil? Probably, at least in the eyes of the comment's author.

And the rant against the Colemans and other very rich folks seems out of place. There are rich people everywhere and they lead different lives than the rest of us.

I feel the presence of envy pervading the comment. The more I think about it, it seems like the rantings of an embittered human being, someone who doesn't know how to deal with whatever comes his way with grace and humor.

He may very well misunderstand his insurance policy; the additional living expenses he will sustain as a result of the evacuation are reimbursable under his homeowner's policy without regard for the deductible. They are covered from the first penny expended.

The damage to his house is indeed subject to a 'named storm' deductible under which the normal deductible increases if the damage is caused by astorm that has received a name. A very common provision, but he should understand that if the deductible did not exist, premiums would be much higher. Then he'd complain about them.
