Well Mr. Radd... I hear what you are saying... and I'm trying to understand... but it's really tough for me to see your point of view.

For reasons that I may never fully understand, electoral politics in this country has always been reduced to cultural warfare. Sometimes its merely been a cold war, but over the entire history of the nation it has included more bloodshed than most people are willing to acknowledge.

As best I can tell very little of this "intramural" bloodshed has been motivated by tax policy, or the expenditure of revenues on unwise or illegal wars of aggression. If that were the case then Republicans have all committed suicide during the Nixon administration... or at least have imprisoned Reagan and a substantial part of his administration.

But the same could be said for every presidency since Roosevelt, with the possible exception of Carter and Clinton... although they'd probably both have to pay some fines for their military/CIA "entanglements." They all have used taxation in the service of their own personal delusions to (a) generate revenue for some level of stupidity and (b) to shape the conduct of taxpayers in ways unappreciated by at least some.

Moreover if I had to bet my life on whether the largest "waste" of GDP resulted from government's actions or those of private entities, I would have to finger the privateers as the most wasteful by far. Shoot... I could probably run the entire State of California, New York and possibly more on corporate write-offs alone. It would certainly be more than enough to pay-off every state's budget deficit. And that's not even counting the outright criminal wrong doing and civil frauds in the churches, Wall Street, and everywhere else humanity clumps together in groups of three or more.

So you see I have a hard time singling out government or taxation as a particularly "bad guy" in this drama. But then never having voted for a Republican to a federal office myself I will not complain regarding your current decision.

All I ask is that... before the shooting starts... you make a good faith attempt to identify exactly what it is you are trying to kill. <vLg>
