It's an unavoidable fact that one or both parents have got to make some compromises in their career if they put the kids' interests first. And I agree that ideally both need to be there.

And yes there are other factors that influence how the kids turn out and one can't always blame the parenting - the seed, the other soil etc.

It's almost a miracle if the kids turn out alright - we're keeping our fingers crossed as our boys are just entering the teen years
