Band is incredibly timeconsuming. Mine played trumpet and percussion, but dropped in high school because they wanted to do other things- swim team, model UN, theatre, computers. If yours already have many interests, you don't need to sell anything! It's about their finding what they love by offering lots of things but forcing nothing, imo. Then letting them loose from your expectations. I bet your kids are great. No first violinist and cellist could be anything but. :) I would love to have those years to do over again. Well, maybe not every part of them...
