There was A LOT on the line to be lost at the time you advocated capitulation. How much? A lot more that was spend fighting to date.

There was nothing to be gained at that point. There never was and never will be anything gained from the Iraq adventure (by the US). AQ was a tool of the Sunni "insurgents" in the 'enemy of my enemy' sense.

In the long run Iraq will turn out as Iraq turns out. Our "surge" will have no influence on their future; a pinprick in history.
