Brumar, I read everyone from Barry Goldwaters, "The conscience of a conservstive" to Ayn Rand. The biggest thing hurting this country and democracy is the anti intellectual attitude we have come to embrace. Anyone taking the time to educate themselves should be applauded, not be a matter of scorn or sarcasm. Educating one to the facts of life is what every person should do. It is hared work and takes a lot of time because reality is very complicated. Understanding Einstein's Relativity, or knowing about the mysteries of quantum physics, or understanding existentialism or Zen is essential to making sophisticated decisions. There is no substitute for knowledge!! As Plato said: "The unexamined life is not worth living. We have to stop this anti intellectual behavior.
