lol-- Syb and I have argued this for years. I am a strong believer in team sports and have no objections to the ballsports at all-- only the increasing emphasis on them as financial priorities in the schools and the exclusivity of them in large schools.

My husband pitched in college and at 53 still pitches hardball on a senior men's league. He talks about a baseball field in poetic terms. A beautiful doubleplay can bring tears to his eyes. Well, maybe not, but close. He would understand about the smells and feelings.

Both boys tried all the sports as they grew. The benefits more than offset the negatives for us because we kept such a close eye on it all, I think. My husband coached, and we were careful which teams the boys played on if he didn't. They made friends, learned to win AND lose, and had an outlet for all that BOY energy.

When they love it, they love it. My husband will probably leave the mound for the last time on a stretcher.
