I totally agree. You can only work with what you have to work with. Not every kid can be turned in to a band geek (as my kids proudly call themselves.) Sometimes you have a kid who could go either way, and has a love of music and football, that kid I would be inclined to tip toward music, because of the lack of injuries in music, and the nice kids. I can't tell you how many kids I've seen injured from the contact sports. It's kind of depressing. They're having orthoscopic surgery, in high school! And since it was an orthoscopi surgery (the result of a middle school track injury) that landed me with an MRSA that almost lost me my foot, I'm fairly negative on sports with lots if joint injuries.
