Sector Investor,

thanks for the links. I keep throwing my assumptions out there, but unfortunately people rarely challenge them. Makes it tough to learn anything!

I agree that OC-48 is lacking on NN's and NT's switches (I think). And I have heard that NN doesn't have OC-12 (but also that they're working on it).

Question: who needs an OC-48 switch? I've heard that most switched networks can't even "drive" or "saturate" an OC-48 port, so it's like overkill or something. I'll admit that I have no idea what these people are talking about. Can you comment on that?
Is this OC-48 capability shipping or is it vaporware?
And I keep hearing that ASND/Casc. is clueless about voice...
And I keep hearing about quality issues (eg "Crashcade")...
Why did NN win big ATM backbone contracts with BT, MCI, Stentor and rumored others if ASND's switch is better?
Why did NTT go with ASND frame relay instead of ASND ATM?
Does ASND have comprehensive network management software that's competitive with NN and NT's strong offerings?
Can ASND cover ALL the bases: access, edge AND core switching?

Unfortunately my research time is limited, so I admittedly have more work to do regarding both ASND and CSCO. Thanks for the help...carrier class ATM sounds like it's going to be huge...
