I thought the whole speech was "scripted." Which of course is to be expected. But it was a speech written for anyone to give. Anyone, that is, who opposed to Obama and pro McCain and who wants to appeal to the people on the Convention and pfp. Lots of one liners, written by someone who is clever, partisan and glib.

As you and others said earlier, no real substance. But the red meat crowd doesn't demand that--they want to hear what they want to hear. End of story.

Even David Brooks says that it was light on substance and policy, that McCain will have fill in the policy gap.
