The Romney speech is the one that bothered me. But that's
probably because I only heard bits of the Guiliani speech.

He painted Washington as being run and dominated by liberals.

At the end, I forgot which commentator said it, but they mentioned
it was a strange speech, given that congress was controlled by
the Republicans 6 of the last 8 years, and that they held the
presidency over the same last 8 years.

I think the whole thrust is to bring Obama and Biden down to
their level. The tone of their speeches tell me they've already
determined they're not going to win with the high road. So boys,
roll up your sleeves - we're going to get down and dirty.

Like a McCain spokesman said, this election is not going to be
about the issues.

SmearVets - time to get out the swiftboats yet again. This
election is about to get as nasty as the last two presidential
races.

My only hope is that the American electorate is finally tired
of this type of cynical bloodletting and are finally seeing
through the Republican Karl Rove slash and burn tactics.

I know I for one am extremely tired of it. As a nation, and
a people, we deserve better.
