Yeah, she's full of it about fiscal restraint. That much is clear. Between the Washington lobbyist for her small town and her initial support for the bridge to nowhere, and then using that money for other state projects, she is just misrepresenting herself to the public.

I am okay with earmarks for one reason. It's the only way we can get sensible local spending out of Washington, which seems more interested in spending our money on Iraq. There are some stupid and wasteful projects, but the good ones also get funded via earmarks, and wouldn't get funded otherwise. We have a flood control project in my part of the country that would save billions in damanges and save lives and heartache if fully implemented. The only way we can get money out of the war machiners in Washington, DC is via earmarks. I realize earmarks are not the evil the Republicans portray them as. It is our only way of getting money from the Federal government where it can make a difference at the state and local level.
