Do you have a link to that 38% number? It proves your point but it also proves the point that too many americans live perilously close to the poverty line. By the way, everyone in that group pays roughly 8% fica and medicare payroll tax, some state taxes, sales taxes, etc. so its not the free ride you make it out to be.
When i started out, men worked and women stayed home with the kids. That became an economic impossilility in my generation. For todays young folks not only do both work but some work second and third jobs. Well to do folks should be careful in criticizing Sarah Palin type families that are employed as union steelworkers and civil servants workers. Country club republicanism exists for folks like gramm and thompson who keep telling the little guy that things arent so bad.
