Maybe you have something to learn about how loving families come together. You would not be happy if they rejected the young man, perhaps sent out an honor killing against him, or something like that, would you?

Honor killing!! I love it. I've been catching up on the thread and trying to figure out what some of the critics on the thread would prefer the Palins had done with regard to their pregnant teen. You came up with the perfect observation!

I very much admire and approve of the way the Palins have handled their twin challenges--Down syndrome baby and their 'wayward' teen. In my experience this would be the way a typical loving Christian family would behave in this day and age. Rejection and shaming are a thing of the past and seen today for what they are, which is counter-productive on many levels.

Those two young people have pretty much thrown away their carefree youth and will, as Sarah Palin said, have to grow up very fast now. The odds are that their marriage will fail under the strain and impair their ability to fully nurture their baby. My guess is the Palins understand this, too, and know that castigation will only add to the strain. Nothing good would come from it that I can see.
