Hi John..
Boy, all I asked was one simple question and this thing has sort of mushroomed out. I didn't mean to make waves, but I've always been facinated by everything that comes across my path. When I ran into a thread called Ask God, I thot, boy this must be interesting, and I have not been dissapointed. Your and David's comments have been very enlightening. I had a bunch of questions for David. Please feel free to comment. (I read that one first and reaponded.)
You mention your children. An interesting thing happened to my son not long ago. He is engaged to be married and the girl he is marrying went to a Baptist church, so they went to her minister to ask him to marry them. He asked my son what church he went to and my son replied that he had never been in one. The minister then spent the next half hour telling his fiance that a: he wouldn't marry them b: she shouldn't marry him and then c: he asked to be invited to the wedding! (I guess Baptists fall into your phony Christian bunch like Swaggert and Baker?) I am still having difficulty in sorting out who is who and what you believe in.
That brings up the question, why do you believe at all? If you sort out what you were born with and what you aquired after you were born, belief falls into the latter group, while reasoning is innate. (Lower animals can reason, while belief comes with language.) Now, following that line of reasoning-- sorry, I have to use reasoning, I was born with it-- If, following that thot, you were born with reasoning, then whatever created you "God" gave you reasoning. Why now do you throw that out and follow other men's beliefs?
More food for thought.
