Fred, actually I have seen no survey results which can state with a certainty that first-time buyers are actually contributing to the vast majority of the segment 0 sales. According to Intel CC, I think I remember Intel execs saying that they believe businesses will be "the lion's share" of segment 0. As for consumer market, I saw an article (don't remember where) earlier this week that also believed that, going by household income, more of the segment 0 PC's were probably being purchased as second or third home PCs. I guess it doesn't matter a whole lot, a sale is a sale. But it's interesting how the media can take a couple survey estimates, and transform this into some kind of blanket fact. The fact is, it's difficult if not impossible to know exactly if it's first-time buyers or second-time buyers buying sub 1K PCs.
