Mq, here is the reason why [pure black bleakness at the banks], when the music stops, I will be the one holding the marbles. Banks earned 86% [not a typo] less quarter over quarter during 2Q08. Can you imagine the effect on Q's shares if such a report were made? Banks, esp. the big ones, nonetheless keep merrily traipsing along. This cannot last. The trickle of blood will soon enough turn into a torrent. Another report like that and SKF will see 200.

The FDIC, which is much like a monoline insurer except with unlimited reserves thanks to its suction hose at the Treasury, would be in serious trouble if its Treasury backstop did not exist.
