I remember studying Ephesians- and I remember also disliking Paul and his view on women. I think I would rather take my cue from Jesus, who could get tough, but I don't think would have belittled and lied. So my guess is that Palin would see herself (1) as being in a leadership position and (2) representing the 'true Christians'---fundamentalist and evangelical---against the forces of secular humanism. So from her POV, all tools are at her disposal GOsh, that's pretty scary, Kate. Far too reminiscent of some other religion I could name whose radicals see themselves in a war against the forces of darkness. Only WE are the darkness for them.
