New Dimension Software to Introduce Tandem Offerings and Present Enterprise
Systems Management Solutions at ITUG October 27 - 30
IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- New Dimension Software
(Nasdaq: DDDDF) today announced plans to exhibit at the 1997 International
Tandem User Group conference to be held October 27-30 at the San Jose Hilton
in San Jose, CA. Last month, New Dimension Software acquired the Tandem
product line from ENlighten Software Solutions (Nasdaq: SFTW) of San Mateo,
CA. In addition to exhibiting its tightly integrated product families, New
Dimension Software will introduce its Tandem offerings.
Since New Dimension Software announced the acquisition, the company has
been working closely with ENlighten to transition the Tandem product line into
New Dimension Software's tightly integrated solutions. During the week-long
event, ITUG attendees will have the opportunity to explore New Dimension
Software's enterprise production management, enterprise output management and
enterprise security management solutions. New Dimension Software
representatives and members of the Tandem development team (comprised of
former ENlighten employees) will answer questions about the products. New
Dimension Software will also host a hospitality suite on Tuesday, October 28
from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the San Jose Hilton.

platforms. New Dimension Software currently supports all the operating
systems that Tandem offers today, including Tandem for Windows NT and Tandem
FT/UX. When implemented with the Enterprise Controlstation(R) users have
complete control of these and all other platforms in the enterprise.
ITUG attendees will have the opportunity to learn about New Dimension
Software's Tandem offerings. These include products in the following
categories: job scheduling, outboard console automation, performance
management, tape management, SQL management utilities and security reporting.
After months of joint development work with ENlighten, New Dimension Software
will debut the new Tandem Performance Monitor (TPM) at ITUG.
New Dimension Software Tandem Performance Monitor Features Enhance Real-
Time Performance Monitoring and Functionality
New Dimension Software's Tandem Performance Monitor (formerly
ENlighten/TPM), the market's de facto standard for real-time performance
management, provides new features and an enhanced Windows interface. The
performance management tool allows organizations to maximize valuable system
resources by monitoring all critical system components, using a comprehensive
array of facilities to isolate and diagnose software and system performance
problems -- from configuration errors to resource limitations -- and issuing
alerts before the problems affect end-users.
In addition to new screens for file openers, partitioned files and busiest
files on the system, new thresholds have been added for tracking I/O activity,
device states, and missing, looping or suspended processes. This release also
introduces historical playback of performance statistics including CPU,
process, line, disc and file information, and provides user-configurable
storage and collection rates.
As a complement to the host product, the Tandem Performance Monitor for
Windows provides user-configurable preferences for displaying tables and
graphs, new drill-down navigation, data filtering, new local alarms, multiple
node support and graphical system status. The Windows GUI allows users to
freeze and play back recent statistics for detailed analysis, and then return
to real-time data display. At the node level, the graphical system status
provides immediate notification of potential systems problems and drill-down
navigation allows quick access to detailed information regarding the alarm.
New Control-M Features Enhance Scheduling Functionality
New Dimension Software and Tandem have worked together to enable full
output analysis, and immediate user notification in case of an identified
problem. CONTROL-M can analyze the result of a command, react by
appropriately altering the scheduling flow, and issue an alert to the
administrator in charge of the successful completion of the production.
This functionality is now supported on all the platforms available from
Tandem, including Tandem Non-Stop Kernel (also known as Tandem Guardian),
Tandem for Windows NT, and Tandem FT/UX. The generated alerts can also be
forwarded to the Enterprise Controlstation, where the administrator will
receive the fully integrated view with the rest of the enterprise.
