Since this is FADG, anyone here been following the travails of the Status of Forces Agreement in Iraq? It seems the Iraqi's just got the latest version from the USA, and claim it is DOA because of the two main sticking points, lack of timetable and lack of accountability of US forces.

Juan Cole has some interesting speculation that the lack of closure on this is both driving Kurd/Shiite friction, and also that this friction is impeding the resolution of SOFA, because the Shiites see the lack of SOFA as leverage with the USA vs. the Kurds.

Interesting ideas.
