Yes, we are. Though he describes his family in Kogelo as his people also. Nothing wrong with that - he does have close family ties there.

Whats bad is making a promise of support and doing nothing. Heck, even if he raised funds from others that would be fulfilling his promise. But of course, he can easily afford to do so given his several million dollars of income from his books.
