Ann, no offense, but regardless of your golden rule for this thread, everyone is subject to TOU. I've now read every single post of Kenneth's so far this month, and I didn't see any lies or scurrilous remarks. I have no desire to read every post here, there are just too many. What I did see was a fairly aggressive personal attack from out of the blue that appeared to have no basis. Posters here are obviously welcome to their opinions, but it is quite amazing the level of hostility on display.
That said, both candidates have their strengths and weaknesses, and neither candidate really thrills me. Both parties are subject to corruption.
The questions to me is which candidate would be a more effective leader over the next four years once in office, given that there no other realistic options. Both McCain and Obama are senators, and neither have "administrative" experience. Is Obama less experienced, yes. But to be honest, I think he may show better judgement than McCain overall. McCain is a bit of a loose cannon IMO, and I think that shows in the Palin pick. And she seems even more of a loose cannon than McCain is!
My read is the electoral map favors Obama right now, and I think he has an easier time winning. Obama is certainly more fit to be POTUS than Palin is (even though I know she is only VP candidate), and I think the whole premise of the thread at this point isn't really an issue.
FWIW.
