many years ago, "boy" was a derogatory term, as you've seen highlighted in the movie "Smokey and the Bandit", "Hey boy". around here, go to many places where people are working in construction and you'll hear "boy" used all the time between all the races. I would bet the same people getting wound up over "uppity" and "boy" have no problems at all with rappers' lyrics..... ssdd
