"That $3,269.00 rebate check sure sound pretty good for the oil." Advantage of living in a small population state that sits ontop of a lot of oil, and with a royalty tax on the production I guess. (Oil accounts for about 1/3 of State revenues, and federal transfer payments for another 1/3. Not too many states have an economy like that.) "Everyone has been getting wealthy off of oil and natural resources why should Americans not enjoy the procedes here while becoming energy independent?" Who ever said that America should NOT become 'energy independent'? I've been for it literally for decades now. (Yet we are farther off from that goal then we were when I first embraced it in the 'seventies.)
