In August 2005 while gearing up for his run, he realised that he needed to get the religious right on his side if he was going to have a prayer of a chance, so he made a statement backing the teaching of Intelligent Design in public schools.

I have seen later statements to the contrary. I seriously doubt he has changed his POV on Intelligent Design. So, we can conclude that he wants to be elected and is willing to waffle and tease to do so. Gosh, he must be a politician. Imagine that!

Let's say he (or any other President) actually wanted to push for teaching intelligent design, how might he make that happen?
