I question really what should the Federal governments role be? Education appears to me something that can be managed much better at the State level, city and county level.

I mean really a zero to K program soaking up billions of dollars. It is not like we have unlimited funds.

What is the root cause of the failure to graduate?

Whats the root cause for failing to have a decent education even after graduating?

Does a good HS graduate have adequate preparation to enter the work force? Or are we just expecting that after 4 years of liberal arts there will be good paying jobs waiting.

I think States are much better geared towards ensuring that HS students enter programs to prepare them for fields in their State.

Obama could have spent his time in this area with job training to teach construction skills to these disadvantaged groups and then made sure they got work instead of all the illegals doing construction around here. I think a community organizer and state senator with his connections could have done something.
