I realize that this conflicts with the life at conception, a soul in every fertilized egg view, and I see no way to reconcile these views- except to leave it up to each woman and her God.

Life begins a conception, don't you think? Whether it be dog, cat or human?

As to the soul in a fertilized egg, years ago I read the most interesting thing about Islamic theology. Supposedly somewhere in the Koran is the concept that God sends a soul into an embryo on the 42nd day. 42 days is roughly 6 weeks, the dividing line for what is considered a miscarriage. Many Christian groups speculate that a miscarried fetus has not been endowed with a soul.

At any rate, I was intrigued by this teaching of Islam.
