It's true, Gottfried, after a war, the makers of weapons and other related companies find their business slowdown. After the Vietnam war, a recession set in. When the gov't reduced Bases, equipments and men after the "cold" war with the USSR was over, we saw lots of jobs lost especially in California...Wars do create jobs and maintain them...

In the Hi-tech arena: "wars" among disk-drive makers, among Memory makers, among networkers, computer makers, chip makers, etc make Hi-tech goods cheaper that create more things for more people to get busy...Luckily for us AMAT investors, the stock is in a sector that is not a participant in war---the sector provides the weapons for the Hi-tech "wars"...
