But don't you see how this begs the question? McCain - Mr POW, Maverick - (IMHO) WILL continue this policy and Obama - probably fighting hurricane-force opposition - will try to stop it. And you're forgetting a collateral benefit to a change in policy: a new peace dividend, due to a smaller,focused military.

But I honesty have to tell you, I am not against further spending - Even if it increases the Debt - if it is made on things that really matter - real help for the poor and middle class; real and honest help for the needy of the World. I would not sweat an increase in debt if it is made for these purposes, because I believe it should be looked at as an investment: one that will pay compound dividends.
