I finally saw Recount, the 2000 election fiasco in Florida. The utter nastiness of the Republicans and their 'who gives a damn what we do as long as we win' attitude gives them the edge when it gets this close. I don't know if the Dems understand the need to fight the nasty fight in order to win in this environment. The Republicans operatives are, quite literally, crazy cultists. They will do anything, say anything, sell their own mother, backstab a friend, lie, cheat, steal to gain power. That's the opposition and it just laughs out loud at the notion of playing fair. They were accused of stabbing tires to keep people from voting. They also accuse minorities in particular of being felons to kick them off the rolls. It's a war and the other side doesn't care what it does in order to win. Do the Dems really understand that?
