Is it immigration, that attracted people -say to accountancy- without core values?
Is it the legal system that is corrupted?
Is it religiosity that left the lives of modern society and now 'greed is good', and business by any means is the norm?"
Interesting question...imo a key part of this issue is that 1)the power of religion has declined in our lives due to the fact that, well, it turned out to be supernatural superstition and has little credibility anymore 2)the fact that one has avoided superstition does not mean that one has then found the truth...we are still left with the question "how do we guide our behavior and what is the source of values" 3)Even tho religion has declined in power, most of the educational system is still strongly influenced by religion, and rather than try to answer quetion 2 above, they try to avoid question 2, or make it difficult to answer question 2, while trying to maintain the old religious thinking process. Much of philosophy is not actually a search for truth, as one might initially expect, but rather an attempt to show that reason cannot answer point 2 so we must fall back on some variant of faith.
this situation leaves many of us in a point of confusion, going by the seat of our pants, or our "sense of life", which sometimes works well and sometimes leads us astray.
