Sadly we're going into a major depression either way... so an Obama win is going to make him a lot of enemies in the long run... regardless of his performance. He'll probably get blamed for the whole thing by many. OTOH a lot of people hated FDR as well... he was popular enough.

It's really kind of interesting in that like any complex system, the further out of wack it gets the bigger the overcompensation on the other side. There should have been major changes in the tax code, wage differentials, etc etc years ago. By keeping the game going the republicans essentially CAUSED an Obama (liberal?) presidency by avoiding Kerry... by privatizing everything and driving wages to obscene levels they are getting government take over of entire bankrupt industries... Yes, get government off our backs makes sense in an over regulated environment but as a mantra or religion of course it's nonsense.

So maybe McCain and the republicans DESERVE to win, then they can learn first hand about big government, cause it's commin!! Of course the downside is a McCain war with Iran, which would simply be a US defeat, as no one would go. If he used nukes there would be riots and a tribunal...
