Ok, people, take a deep breath.

Obama is behind in the latest polls. The right wing base is energized, beliving Sarah Palin is a modern day Joan of Arc sent by God to save America. The election is over.

Get real.

The post-convention surge is normal. It happens after every convention. Palin is a shiny new prop and folks are infatuated with this moose hunting rambo woman.

However, the election is 56 days away. Infatuation wears off.

Palin is being stage managed. In the two weeks since her annointment She has yet to make a single unsupervised appearance, make a single unscripted comment or give a single interview. Her handlers claim she is ready to take on Putin, the Taliban and bin Laden when she has yet to take on Campbell Brown. It can't last forever, and I'd bet they're going to be sweating bullets when she finally needs to face the music alone. She might do well, she might not.

In Obama we have the most charasmatic, politicaly astute candidate and campaign organization in decades. It's survived the most grueling primary in history - and came out strong.

Any addition to the ticket would change the matrix and require adjustment. Palin is no exception. The adjustments will be made and the campaign has just begun. It ends in November - not today.

The polls are interesting but hardly conclusive. Don't get overly excited when Obama is up or dejected when he's down. The only poll that matters takes place November 4th.
