Despite that: <Inflation accelerated to 4.4 percent in July, the fastest pace since at least 1997, and the Bank of England predicts it will reach 5 percent this year. The rate has stayed above the bank's 2 percent target for 10 months. > There's a LOT of up and down these days.

I feel sorry for Fannie and Freddie shareholders who didn't really own anything of value but they were cleaned out by government decision and fiat.

Judging by the price increases in non-tech stocks and the decline in tech stocks, it's as though the market sees the government moves as a transfer of money from the productive geek world and mobile cyberspace to the legacy property speculator 3D world of SUV, bricks, dirty and metal.

We should take Big Ben at his word that he can prevent deflation using fleets of helicopters, just as they should have taken Adolf at his word and just as we should take President Amendiejihad of Iran at his word. They mean what they say and say what they mean and set about doing it to validate their existence and ideas.

It's a far better bet to bet on inflation than deflation. Look at Fannie and Freddie for example. The government controls the printing press and they just love to use it. Owning a money tree was a Donald Duck story and it seemed a great idea to me [as long as I was the only one who had one - I think there was a Mida story too, with everything turning to gold and causing no value].
