They might be spraying something around here called Scourge.... Aerial mosquito spraying may be done Wednesday BY WILLIAM MURPHY newsday.com Nassau County will not conduct aerial spraying Tuesday against the mosquitoes that carry West Nile, but may do it Wednesday, weather permitting, county officials said. "Everyone in the spray area will get a telephone call before we spray," Health Department spokeswoman Cynthia Brown said. The spraying of the pesticide Scourge is planned for a broad area of the county bordered by the Long Island Expressway on the north, the Southern State on the south, the Queens County line on the west and the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway on the east. Plans to spray the area last Thursday night were canceled because of high winds, and some county residents said they had gotten little warning of the plans, and no alert that it had been called off.
