Wharf Rat;

"I told the Congress ‘thanks but no thanks’ for that ‘Bridge to Nowhere.’ If our state wanted a bridge, we’d build it ourselves."

This is all kind of sad in an ironic way. The bridge to nowhere may be just what this country needs as it fights job loss. Bridges and tunnels can bring tremendous advantages as they open up new areas for all kinds of growth. The alternative to continue to use ferries - or continue long drives that bridges could cut down on are poor alternatives long term. Invest in today for the future is not a bad policy.

I also wonder how Alaskans are going to feel down the road because Palin has pretty much said "no thanks" to future pork money for worthwhile projects, saying ...."we will build them oursleves". I'm betting Alaskans in the future are going to despise her for saying that. Oil prices plummeting now means those big checks coming in to Alaskan government and to individuals are going to shrink considerably. I think in the future Alaskans are going to spit when they hear her name. Not yet, but in the future.
