Hunting licensees are not just arbitrarily sold. Hunting licensees are sold to keep herd populations constant and strong. Census counts are made on wildlife populations to determine the number of licenses issued. This helps maintain healthy herds, by culling weaker wildlife, minimizing disease and starvation from overpopulation, and the protection of other wildlife and fauna from the encroachment one specie into the habitat of other species. Revenue from hunting and fishing also helps fund, national parks, wildlife conservation, and fuels local and state economies.
