Altitude can give you a heckuva headache if you're not used to it.

Extreme altitude, like on Denali, can really be deadly.

There is no predicting who will get altitude sickness. Some years back a buddy of mine tried to climb Rainier. He was a runner, very fit and active. Got nasty altitude sickness at about 10k feet and had to turn back. His overweight, beer swilling buddy made the summit.
