It's not a matter of belief. It's a matter of wanting to teach a belief in an inappropriate forum - such as science class.

I could give a fig if Palin truly believes that the rapture is coming, and that Alaska is the last refuge before it comes. It's when she crosses over from belief to policy - inquiring how to ban books, supporting teaching of creationism in science class - that it becomes an issue that must be discussed.
