If the strata upon which religious experience acts is the human body, and specifically, the wiring in the brain, than you would explain similar experiences across all religions- which is, of course, what you see, This proves that people are wired to experience supernatural "seeming" experiences, but it is no proof of the nature of those experiences. When proof is lacking, I go for the simple explanation- which is that the human brain can fire in such a way as to cause humans to see visions of things that are not there. We know that- we can get the same result with drugs. Other expalanations are interesting, but are completely lacking in objective proof.
