The story sounded phony to begin with. Now if it does turn out that there is some degree of racism that can be connected to Palin, the real story will be discredited.

This reminds me of the 2000 election. There is no question that W was a draft dodger. But when Dan Rather ran a story based on a forged document, W got a pass on any other discussion of draft dodging. To this day I am convinced, that Dan Rather cost Gore the election. Thanks Dan.
