<<My big concern is that the rest of the world supports this>> My big concern also.
i think that the tight relationship that became apparent between the value of USD and the price commodities got the Global CBs thinking they can beat commodity inflation by pumping up the dollar.
In about June this year i read where G7 had stated the low price in the USD was "UNACCEPTABLE".
i found i couldn't interpret the word "unacceptable" as other than a signal that they were going to FIX that situation.

In the view that GOLD would be best to hold we are up against a FIAT money controlled world that is just plain hostile to GOLD.
Marc Faber that has called into question his own inflationary views, and is actually now considering a several year deflation says he remains buying GOLD on a monthly basis eventhough he accepts 600 is possible.
Well let me quote Faber's EXACT words. An earlier post:To: Vi who wrote (10850) 9/6/2008 10:53:00 PM

An EXACT recent quote from Dr.Marc Faber

<< I am a happy
holder of gold and a buyer on the way down (in fact, irrespective of the
price I buy every month some) for the following reasons. I am not a great
believer in insurance policies but since I think that sooner or later the
entire financial system will blow up I want to make sure that whereas my
assets, which are on deposit and could become worthless through default,
I shall still be left with some assets that are mine (physical gold in a safe
deposit box – not in the US).
I should like to emphasize that this is also a
point which speaks for owning some stocks.
Dr. Marc FABER Market Commentary August 20, 2008>>

i note FABER says it is POSSIBLE Gold will go to 600.
Two, this guy is pragmatist and he is NOT ruled by his longterm views. He was LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG the dollar before this rally in USD. He published a call of another analyst of SPX500 reaching 500 in the future.
