Since there are many people in the world ready to die for faith, I think the whole issue is not quite as mild as you paint it. There'd be a lot fewer conflicts in the world if people were more mild about their faith.

You make a good point. When I made the statement, I was thinking more of early Christians in the century following the death of Christ....or even someone like Sir Thomas More who was willing to be beheaded rather than renounce his allegiance to his personal belief system.

One group of religious people killing another group OVER religion is tragic. But does this really have anything to do with whether or not God is real? To me, organized religions and the reality of God are completely separate issues. You wouldn't look at the damage of a hurricane and decide water wasn't a good thing to have around.
