The most important way to deal with the behavior problems is to find what interests them, and steer them that way. Many times the disruptive kids are artistic, or have interests outside the typical school curriculum- for example they are interested in cars, or computers. If we had more latitude to direct these kids in to technical schools where they could pursue their interests, we'd all be SO much better off. It's silly to pretend every kid is going to the UC and needs a standard college prep education. The world needs HVAC guys too, and car repair specialists, and plumbers and carpenters, etc.

It really bugs me that we treat every kid as college material, when college should not be, and never will be, the end point for all school children.
